Weekend Reading 9.26.26 — What I’m Reading (and Coveting) From the Hotel Room

I’m writing this from a hotel room the night I landed, laptop on the duvet, and I have exactly one job this weekend: burn through my reading list. My birthday is tomorrow, so the stakes are high. Here’s everything I want you to click — the fun stuff, the useful stuff, and the stuff I’m quietly coveting for the next carry-on.

Skincare news I actually read first

In the age of injectables, where do wrinkle serums even fit in? This Vogue piece made me rethink my entire shelf, so it went straight to the top of my queue. And there’s genuinely great sunscreen news for the US in this Allure story — I’ve been waiting for that one.

Reading for the flight home

The New York Times put out its list of the 100 best TV shows of the decade — I’m going to need a longer weekend for this one. There’s a quick profile of Catherine Holstein, the designer behind Khaite, in Vanity Fair that I devoured in one sitting, plus everything we know so far about the Elizabeth Holmes documentary from Elle. The Time profile of Amy Sherald and the New Yorker profile of Barbara Kingsolver are both worth the full attention — she is amazing.

Cozy, in every sense

My living room rug is on mega sale and I’m not ashamed to click through. This piece on revisiting childhood hobbies as a way of figuring out who you are as an adult (via Time) hit closer than it should. How to reconnect with an old friend without the awkwardness, from The Everygirl — yes, me. And on building your inner life, from The Good Trade. Also: the best paranormal books of all time, via Marie Claire, because the hotel room is a great place to be a little haunted.

What I’m coveting

I ordered a crazy fringe dress this week that reminds me of the Alaia from this spring, and I can’t stop thinking about this fringe jacket — fun, right? A pink barn jacket just arrived and I’m in love. Lands End does one too, which is a very good sign. There’s a cropped wool trench in this list that’s beautiful but a real splurge, a chartreuse version of my favorite affordable beaded bag, leopard print I absolutely love, and a Reformation bag that’s doing everything right lately. The Allure Best of Beauty awards are out, so I’ll be refreshing that page all weekend.

Home, culture, and the occasional grumpy cat

It’s a great time to be a guy who loves his cat, according to the New York Times. Daydreaming about this upstate New York cabin with plenty of places to read (via AD). The most anticipated restaurant openings of fall, from Bon Appetit — and I’m dying to make their savory Dutch Baby. Brian Atwood’s New York home is pretty fabulous, via AD, and I love that this Kiawah home skipped the traditional coastal route (Homes & Gardens).
